New Orleans (SS)


The SS New Orleans was built in 1885 by Morely and Hill of Moraine City, MI as a wooden steamer for carrying coal. The ship collided on June 30, 1906 and went down. The wreck is located ENE of Nine Mile point, 9.2 miles at a 21 degree heading from Thunder Bay Island light. The wreck has an intact bow, but is broken wide apart at the center. The stern is mostly collapsed and the masts are broken above the deck.
